The Afghanistan Cricket Board is likely to come to India to host India for a white-ball series. Yes! As per reports from ESPNCricinfo, Afghanistan is all set to host India for a T20I series in September, all in Delhi.

However, this is not the first time when Afghanistan hosted countries for their home matches in India. Due to a memorandum of understanding signed between the BCCI and the ACB in 2015, India has long provided refugee stadiums for Afghan cricket development.

Earlier they had hosted home games in Greater Noida, Dehradun, and Lucknow, where the opponents were mainly Ireland, Bangladesh, and the West Indies. For the first time, they will host India in India, and that too in Delhi.

Reports say that the T20I series will be played in mid-September. The first T20I will be on the 13th, followed by the 15th and the 17th of September. All the matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, even though nothing is officially announced.

If the reports are believed, India will be playing Australia somewhere between the Sri Lanka Test tour and Asian Games. The second Test against Sri Lanka concludes on August 27, leaving India with a gap of over two weeks before the opening T20I against Afghanistan. The Asian Games are set to commence on September 24, exactly a week after the third T20I of the series.

If the Afghanistan series happens, it will be a clash with the Bangladesh series. There are conversations claimed to be happening between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and BCCI regarding a T20I series between the two. Bangladesh is currently focusing on "sports diplomacy" with India after a strained relationship between the two during the Yunus government.

However, if the Afghanistan series happens as per proposals, the Bangladesh series might get cancelled out. Meanwhile, a report from the Times of India claimed that there are discussions to start the Afghanistan series from September 17, as the Bangladesh series is near approval. If such things happen, the Indian T20I side will have super hectic schedule in September.
