'Jana Nayagan' release Day 1: Inside the grand celebration of TN CM Vijay's final film

Vijay’s last film ‘ Jana Nayagan ’, as he focuses on his political career, has finally seen the day when it gets released in the theatres. Vijay, who now also serves as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister , possesses a huge fan following, and the hype regarding watching Vijay one last time on the big screens is bound to be there. ‘Jana Nayagan’ was initially set to hit the big screen in January; however, it was delayed due to an issue with the CBFC over the film’s certificate. Now, after the film finally received ‘A’ certificate, the buzz around its release is all over the internet and in theatres.
Fans turn theatres into celebration venuesMultiple fans in Tamil Nadu erected huge cutouts of Vijay outside theatres. They celebrated with some fireworks and drum performances outside the screening halls. At Rohini Theatre, fans performed an aarti for Vijay's posters before the first show. Additionally, a report by Gulf News also suggests that, in Tirunelveli, fans gathered outside Muthuram Multiplex with a full-scale DJ setup.
Celebrities join the celebrationsNot just fans but stars also went to the theatres to experience Vijay one last time on the big screens. Actress Keerthy Suresh and Trisha Krishnan were also spotted arriving at the theatres.
Interestingly, a report by PTI also suggests Vijay himself watched ‘Jana Nayagan’ during a special screening, a day prior to its official opening.

Tamil actor Ravi Mohan took to his X handle to write, “Happy Pongal. Anna, you became the first order of a true ‘Jananayagan’ way before our votes counted; this movie is only the biggest celebration for your authenticity and demeanor as our favorite actor. So our dearest Hon’ble Chief Minister @actorvijay Anna, may this movie soar and live through our hearts.”
What trade analysts say about ‘Jana Nayagan’In a conversation with ETimes, film trade analyst Komal Nahta shared his reaction to the film's box office prospects. He said that Jana Nayagan will "do hit business in Tamil," but added that the Hindi dubbed version is unlikely to perform well. Nahta also agreed that the film serves as a fitting send-off to Vijay's acting career, as it marks his final outing on the big screen.
As things stand the film stays behind Vijay’s last film, ‘The Greatest Of All Time’ or simple ‘GOAT’ which minted over Rs 44 crore on the opening day.
Etimes also spoke with trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who shared that he believes that ‘Jana Nayagan’ is expected to set a new “benchmark” as far as the opening of the film is concerned. When asked about the film’s reception in the North India market, he shared that it's too early to comment as the film is still on its first day in theatres. He added that a mid-week release is not the right parameter to judge a film's success and that a clearer picture will emerge from Friday onwards.
