The anticipation surrounding Christopher Nolan's forthcoming film, "The Odyssey," is palpable, especially with its intriguing casting decisions and dialogue. A standout among the cast is rapper Travis Scott, who has taken on the unconventional role of a bird that narrates the epic tale of Odysseus, the famed king of Ithaca. In a recent chat, Scott shared insights into his unexpected venture into acting and the nerves that accompanied this new challenge.


During his guest appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on July 21, Scott recounted the moment he was approached by Nolan for the role. He vividly remembered receiving a call from the director, stating, "My phone buzzed, and it just said, ‘Chris.’ I was like, ‘What’s this about? Maybe he wants to catch a show?’” When Nolan suggested he act in a film, Scott was initially shocked, questioning whether the offer was truly intended for him.


At 35, Scott expressed his disbelief at landing a role in a film helmed by such a prestigious director, particularly since this is his debut in acting. He noted that his prior experience was limited to music videos, saying, “I’m like, ‘Whoa, hold on. Wait. Wait. You know I make music?’” This unexpected chance left him feeling both thrilled and anxious.


Scott also conveyed his respect for Nolan, calling him a major influence and mentor. He remarked, “I really enjoy his time. I’m really inspired by him; he’s a real mentor of mine outside of this.” When discussing his emotions during filming, Scott openly admitted, “I was actually nervous as ‘F,’ but it worked out,” especially considering the impressive ensemble cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Robert Pattinson.


Beyond acting, Travis Scott also contributed to the film's soundtrack with an end-credit song titled "WHEN I'M HOME," a collaboration with James Blake. The lyrics of the track resonate with the themes of "The Odyssey" and the film's narrative journey, further highlighting Scott's artistic versatility.
