New Delhi [भारत]July 23 (ANI): The New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) has issued an urgent advisory, directing all shops, offices and restaurants in Connaught Place to close by 6:30 pm on July 23, 2026. The association said the decision has been taken on the advice of the NDMC chairman and vice chairman in view of the "serious situation" in the area.
According to an advisory circular, NDTA has requested all establishment owners to follow the instructions to avoid any untoward situation. The circular said, "As advised by the Chairman and Vice Chairman of NDMC over telephone, in view of the serious situation around the CP, it is strictly advised that all shops and establishments in Connaught Place, New Delhi, including offices and restaurants, should be closed by 6.30 pm today i.e. 23.07.2026. All establishment owners/operators are requested to cooperate and Make sure to strictly follow the above instructions to avoid any untoward situation and protect yourself from property damage and injury.”
The directive comes amid ongoing youth protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak controversy, which has affected lakhs of students across the country.
16 metro stations of Delhi closed
Earlier today, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced temporary closure of 16 metro stations, including the Supreme Court metro station, from 7:30 am till further orders as a precautionary measure amid the ongoing student protests in the national capital.
According to a post by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Entry and exit at these stations will remain suspended till further instructions, while interchange facilities will be available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.
The DMRC post read, "Service Update: The following metro stations will remain closed from 07:30 am till further instructions. However, interchange facilities will be available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat: 1. Lok Kalyan Marg, 2. Rajiv Chowk, 3. Patel Chowk, 4. Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, 5. Barakhamba Road, 6. Supreme Court, 7. Seva Tirtha, 8. Janpath, 9. Mandi House, 10. Central Secretariat, 11. ITO, 12. Delhi Gate, 13. Indraprastha, 14. Khan Market, 15. Jor Bagh, 16. Shivaji Stadium."
