New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case, has issued a big statement regarding Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanjeev Mukhiya. The investigating agency has clarified that during the detailed investigation, no such evidence was found against Sanjeev Mukhiya, which would prove that he was involved in a conspiracy to steal the question paper or distribute it. CBI also rejected the claims being made on social media in which the agency was being accused of deliberately protecting him.

Why did the name appear in the FIR, what did the CBI tell?

According to CBI, the initial investigation into the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case was conducted by Bihar Police. Sanjeev Mukhiya's name was included in the FIR registered at that time because he had already been accused in some cases related to examination question paper leak and theft. Later the case was handed over to CBI. The agency conducted a detailed investigation into the question paper theft, its distribution and the people who benefited from it. Till now, several charge sheets have been filed in Patna court against 45 accused in this case.

Inquiries were conducted, but no concrete evidence was found

CBI said that Sanjeev Mukhiya was absconding during the investigation. Later Bihar Police arrested him in other cases. Since his name was also in the FIR of the NEET-UG case, the CBI took him on police remand and interrogated him. The agency says that despite interrogation and other investigative processes, no concrete evidence has emerged against him, which could prove his role. For this reason CBI did not file a charge sheet against him in this case.

Called social media claims misleading

CBI said in its statement that the agency has exposed the entire conspiracy of NEET-UG 2024 paper theft and all the accused involved in it have been identified and legal action has been taken against them. The investigating agency also clarified that the claims of deliberately keeping Sanjeev Mukhiya out of the investigation or protecting him are completely baseless and misleading. According to CBI, even after getting bail in the NEET-UG case, Sanjeev Mukhiya remained in judicial custody due to the action of Bihar Police in other cases. With this statement, CBI has made it clear that the investigation was conducted only on the basis of available evidence and charges were not framed against any person without any evidence.
