Dibyatanu Mondal and Md Hasib Mondal of Baduria LMS High School (HS) emerged champions at the inaugural edition of Udbhas , an inter-school quiz competition that saw students from 21 state board schools across Kolkata and North 24 Parganas compete through a series of multimedia-based challenges.
The duo outperformed teams in video-based question rounds, rapid-fire segments, bidding rounds, Just A Minute (JAM) and MCQs to take home the title. Polerhat High School (HS) finished as first runners-up, while Maslandapur Bhudeb Smriti Balika Vidyalaya secured the second runners-up position.
The top 10 finalists also included Kamala Girls School, Habra Kamini Kumar Girls HS, Dakshin Chatra High School, Kalyangarh Vidyamandir, Chandpara Bani Vidya Bithi, Bira Ballavpara Santipipasa Ballav Balika Vidyalaya (HS) and Chandpur High School.
The competition was organised by online learning platform Shikhone, founded by sisters Dikshita Parakh Sethiya and Tanvi Parakh . Conceived for state board students, the initiative aims to encourage curiosity, critical thinking and healthy academic competition.
Unlike conventional quiz contests, Udbhas featured interactive multimedia rounds designed to test participants on speed, strategy and knowledge. The championship was hosted by quizmaster Prof Adwitiya Datta Banik, an academic influencer and communication expert.
Speaking about the initiative, Dikshita Parakh Sethiya said, “The initiative was created to give state board students a platform that celebrates knowledge, confidence and teamwork. We hope this is the first of many such editions that inspire students to think beyond textbooks and enjoy the process of learning.”
