The American shooter dominated the women’s skeet event, securing both the first and second positions for the USA on Thursday.

The 47-year-old athlete maintained her lead throughout the finals, defeating her teammate Samantha Simonton with a score of 34-32 to win the gold medal. This victory marks her 41st World Cup medal.

China’s Che Yufei took home the bronze with 28 hits, marking her second medal at the shooting World Cup. Meanwhile, Jiang Yiting, who topped the qualifications with 123 hits and is a bronze medalist from the Paris 2024 Olympics, finished fifth after losing in a tiebreaker. Her compatriot Jiang Chaoyu placed seventh.

In the men’s skeet event, China’s Liu Jianlin added another medal for his country, winning bronze with 29 hits.

In the women’s 50-meter rifle three positions event, Britain’s Seonaid McIntosh narrowly defeated China’s Han Jiayu by just 0.3 points in an exciting final. Han had led after the kneeling and prone stages, but McIntosh’s outstanding performance in the standing stage earned her a total of 362.6 points, edging out Han, who scored 362.3 points. Norway’s Jeanette Hegg Duestad secured the bronze with 347.6 points, while China’s Zhang Liuyan finished fourth.

The men’s skeet title was won by Qatar’s Rashid Saleh Al-Athba, who delivered an almost flawless performance. After hitting his first 34 targets, Al-Athba missed only his last shot, finishing with 35 hits and equalling the world record. He defeated Spain’s Jose Maria Mielgo Moneo by one target. Peru’s Nicolas Pacheco Espinosa finished in fourth place.

The Hangzhou World Cup will continue until July 28, with medal events for the women’s 10-meter air pistol and men’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol scheduled for Friday.
