Power Bank Charging Issue: A power bank can charge your phone and other gadgets in a flash, but sometimes its charging speed slows down.

Power Bank Charging Issue: A power bank is an accessory that can save you from a tight spot. It allows you to charge your phone in places where there is no power source. If you have a power bank, you can charge your phone before it shuts down. However, sometimes issues arise when charging the power bank itself; the charging speed remains quite slow even when using a fast charger. Today, we will explain the reasons behind this.

Why does a power bank charge slowly?

Incompatible charger: Most people own a power bank with a capacity of at least 10,000mAh, while many carry ones with 20,000mAh or higher capacities. If you charge them using a fast charger, they will fill up quickly; however, if you use the standard 5-10W charger that comes with a phone, it will take a long time for the battery to fully charge.

Using the wrong USB cable: If you are using a fast charger but the power bank is still charging slowly, there might be an issue with the USB cable. Using a low-wattage cable can also slow down the charging speed. Therefore, it is best to use a USB-C to USB-C cable capable of transmitting up to 100W. You can easily find these cables in the market at affordable prices.

Using it while charging: If you are discharging the power bank—meaning you are using it to charge a phone or another device—while it is being charged itself, the charging speed may slow down. However, modern power banks feature pass-through technology, allowing you to safely charge other devices while the power bank itself is charging. These power banks contain dedicated circuits that separate the charging and discharging processes.

Faulty charging port – If the charging speed does not improve despite everything else being in order, there might be an issue with the power bank's charging port. Debris often accumulates in the port if the USB connection isn't kept clean. Additionally, humidity and sweat can cause the port to oxidize, preventing the cable from connecting properly. Therefore, cleaning the port can help improve charging speeds.
