Shubman Gill has become the latest public figure to react to the students protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. On July 23, the India Test and ODI captain posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram story and well, people noticed it right away.
In the Instagram story, Gill said that India can build a better future through compassion and also mutual respect , like really. He also mentioned that as a young Indian, he feels his generation deserves every possible chance to learn, dream and then move toward a brighter future.
And honestly, he added that education has the ability to shape the country’s future, not just in some vague way, but in a real tangible sense. Shubman Gill isn’t the only Indian cricketer talking about the nationwide issue though. Cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, and Shikhar Dhawan have also shared their views.
Sachin Tendulkar said on his X account that the students anger is understandable, because they have been working hard and they deserve fair chances, even if the situation looks messy. Former India all rounder Irfan Pathan also came out with his own concerns about what is going on during these protests.

Like Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan underlined that a students success isn’t sudden, it really shows years of hard effort and the quiet sacrifices made by their families. He also made it clear that paper leaks should never be allowed to spoil, or completely ruin, their future.
The students protest kind of started on July 20, led by the Cockroach Janta Party. It quickly gathered support , and before anyone could really take it in, it turned into a nationwide issue. Media reports say that police carried out lathi charges on several occasions, just to keep law and order in place. Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk too joined in, and he demanded the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, over the NEET paper leak.
