Sonam Wangchuk Hunger Strike: Social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was on an indefinite hunger strike over the NEET paper leak issue, has ended her fast after getting assurance from the Central Government. Late Thursday (23 July) Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. During the meeting, both the Union Ministers assured Wangchuk of appropriate action and dialogue on his demands from the government. After this Wangchuk decided to end his indefinite fast.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has reacted to Sonam Wangchuk ending her indefinite hunger strike. While sharing the post on social media, he appreciated the stand of the Central Government and its commitment towards the solution. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wrote in her post, “Union Minister JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh met Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and expressed the government’s clear vision and commitment towards solutions on issues to students. After this, Wangchuk ji decided to end his fast.”
After Sonam Wangchuk ended her indefinite hunger strike, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called it a symbol of confidence in the central government’s commitment towards the interests of students. CM Rekha Gupta wrote on social media, “This decision of Sonam Wangchuk reflects her confidence in the commitment of the Modi government towards the interests of students. The government has repeatedly made it clear that strict action will be taken against incidents like paper leaks. Necessary reforms will be made to make the examination system more transparent and credible and meaningful solutions will be ensured through a detailed discussion on the subject in Parliament.”
Those who play with the future of youth will be punished
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta further wrote in her message, “Protecting the interests of the youth of the country is one of the top priorities of the government. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, India’s youth power is the biggest force for nation building and every culprit playing with the future of the country will be punished.” He said that the Central Government is committed to safeguarding the future of students and maintaining the credibility of the examination system.
