New Delhi:Mahindra’s new SUV has been spied in the town of Kaza in Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh, in a camouflage prototype as seen on social media. Since this region is at a height of 3,650 m above sea level, it seems testing the sub-4-metre SUV for high altitudes.

The production-spec model of the Vision S, which was first revealed as a concept in August 2025, will likely sit above the XUV 3XO in the brand’s portfolio. 

The front gets Mahindra’s new six-slat grille, flanked by sleek LED headlamps. They could have the same L-shaped design previously seen on the Vision S concept. The prototype’s front-end design has a muscular clamshell bonnet and a prominent lower air intake. It also features a concealed central section that could potentially house the radar sensor for the SUV’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) hardware.

A darkened section at the top of the windscreen could accommodate the rain-sensing sensors. The test vehicle also seems to feature prominent wheel arches similar to those seen on the Vision S concept, along with a panoramic sunroof and large outside rear-view mirrors. 

Other highlights of the design include short overhangs, flush-fitting door handles, a flat roof, chunky body cladding, a rising beltline, deep wheel arches, and a fuel-filler flap positioned above the left-rear wheel arch.

At the back, the SUV adopts a tall, upright design with vertically positioned LED tail-lamps and a side-hinged tailgate carrying a spare wheel. A compact roof spoiler incorporates a high-mounted stop lamp, while a shark-fin antenna sits on the roof. The rear bumper is comparatively clean. Overall, the prototype’s boxy proportions and upright stance closely echo the design language previewed by the Vision S concept.

It is also expected to come with a feature-rich cabin as seen on spy shots. It is going to get an integrated infotainment display, curved AC vents, physical switchgear and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It rides the Nu_IQ platform that supports petrol, diesel, hybrid and EV powertrains. Mahindra is yet to comment on what powertrain it will come with.
