On Friday, Sanjay Raut, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed his worries regarding the conclusion of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's 26-day hunger strike. He emphasized that the strike should have ended in the presence of protesters and the general public at Jantar Mantar. While Raut welcomed Wangchuk's decision to end the protest, he raised questions about the involvement of central ministers in this conclusion.

Raut noted that the movement, which lasted for 26 days, inspired the youth and ordinary citizens to take to the streets. He pointed out that two ministers from the government, against whom the protest was directed, were present when the hunger strike concluded, raising several questions. He further inquired about the assurances given to Wangchuk by the government and insisted that this information should be made public.

One of the main demands of the protest was the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Raut questioned the rationale behind ending the hunger strike if this demand was not met. He accused the government of attempting to protect Pradhan and expressed concern over the death of a student and injuries to others during police action.

Raut announced plans for significant protests in Mumbai, including a national anthem movement organized by Aditya Thackeray and a march led by Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray on Sunday. He criticized the Chief Minister for now advocating dialogue after previously ignoring repeated calls for discussions from the opposition. Raut also accused the government of trying to suppress and discredit the protests at Jantar Mantar, describing the treatment of Wangchuk as inhumane. He asserted that the movement was not solely about one individual but was a stand against the political system in the country.
