In a notable achievement against cybercrime, the Nurpur Police have apprehended an additional suspect linked to an interstate cyber fraud operation that spans across Bihar and Gujarat.
This case originated on January 18, 2024, when a local resident, Mrs. Shimla Devi, reported being defrauded of ₹3,20,000 through Google Pay after receiving a deceptive phone call from unidentified criminals.
In response to the complaint, Superintendent of Police in Nurpur initiated swift action under FIR No. 21/2024, Section 420 IPC. A specialized team was assembled, led by the officer in charge of the Saduan Police Post, in collaboration with the Cyber Cell. The team undertook technical analysis, digital tracking, and financial transaction tracing across various states.
Previously, one suspect, Mahabir Kumar, was arrested in connection with this case. Further investigations revealed the involvement of Noor Alam, a resident of South Telua in the Nautan area of West Champaran district, Bihar. Based on digital evidence, Noor Alam has also been taken into custody.
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into additional connections and elements of the fraud network is still ongoing.
