The platform found food playing an influential role in the travel decisions of Vietnamese tourists as 35% of those surveyed cited local cuisine as one of the key factors in choosing a destination, according to Agoda’s Travel Outlook 2026 report.

Bangkok recorded the highest search interest, drawing travelers to the city’s vibrant street-food culture with dishes ranging from the rich, coconut-based noodles khao soi to sweet mango sticky rice, based on accommodation searches between April 1 to June 30 2026, for stays between July 1 and Aug. 31.

Singapore ranked second, with its hawker centers serving as a showcase of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakan influences, offering visitors an introduction to the city-state’s multicultural food scene, Agoda wrote.

Seoul and Tokyo placed third and fourth, respectively, each offering a distinct culinary identity.

Seoul is known for spicy street-food staples such as tteokbokki, as well as comforting dishes like samgyetang, or ginseng chicken soup.

Tokyo remains one of the world’s leading food destinations where travelers can enjoy globally recognized Japanese cuisine alongside local specialties such as unagi rice bowls, Japanese curry and natto – the fermented soybean dish known for its strong aroma and sticky texture.

Kuala Lumpur completed the top five, reflecting Malaysia’s multicultural heritage through dishes such as nasi lemak – a fragrant coconut rice dish served with savory accompaniments, and char kway teow – stir-fried rice noodles with a characteristic smoky flavor.

The five most-searched domestic destinations are all coastal cities, indicating strong demand among Vietnamese travelers for beach getaways during the final weeks of summer.

Da Nang topped the list, followed by Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Phan Thiet and Ha Long.
