Over 23 lakh candidates appeared for NEET UG this year, with 11.21 lakh qualifying. These candidates are now set to participate in the counseling rounds. Before the counseling process begins, candidates who believe their marks could be higher are allowed to opt for OMR scrutiny. What exactly is OMR scrutiny?

If any technical glitch is found during scanning or in the records, it can be rectified. However, this does not guarantee an increase in marks for every student.

Marks will change only if the verification proves there was a technical error in reading the OMR sheet or if your correctly marked answers were not recorded. If you marked an incorrect answer, filled in two bubbles, or filled a bubble incompletely, your marks will not increase even after scrutiny.
Which students should opt for OMR scrutiny?
Not every student needs to opt for scrutiny. It is advisable to apply only if you feel your marks are lower than what you calculated based on your OMR sheet and the answer key.
