Security has been beefed up in view of the proposed CJP protest in the capital Delhi. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has completely closed the New Delhi Metro station until further notice, due to which the interchange facility will also not be available at the station.
New Delhi Metro station completely closed
DMRC in a notification released on social media platform ‘X’ said that the New Delhi Metro station will remain closed till further notice. No interchange facility will be available at this station. DMRC has expressed regret for the inconvenience to passengers and advised to use alternative routes.
Restrictions were also imposed on 17 metro stations earlier
Even before this decision, 17 metro stations in Delhi were closed due to security reasons. It includes important stations including Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Janpath, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium and Zandewalan.
Interchange facility available only at some stations
As per earlier decision interchange facility was maintained at some stations like Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat. However, now that the New Delhi Metro station is also completely closed, passengers traveling from here will have to choose an alternative route.
Security arrangements in Delhi on high alert
Delhi Police and security agencies are on high alert in view of CJP’s proposed protest. A large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed in the capital and holidays of police personnel have also been canceled till further notice. Passengers are advised to check the official DMRC update before travelling.
