OpenAI has announced to expand the scope of ChatGPT’s Health feature. The company is now making this feature available to all logged-in users using ChatGPT in the US. This feature will be available on Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans. With its help, users will be able to ask health questions and also add their health information and medical records to ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Health testing started in January
OpenAI started testing a separate Health section within ChatGPT in early January this year. It has been specially designed for questions to health and wellness.

With the help of this feature, users can connect their health and fitness information from services like Apple Health, Function and MyFitnessPal to ChatGPT. After this, ChatGPT can answer the user’s questions keeping this information in mind.

Medical records can also be linked to ChatGPT
Users can also connect their medical records to ChatGPT Health. For this, hospital systems like Epic and Oracle Health along with health platforms like One Medical and Function Health have been supported. That is, if the user’s health data or medical records are available on these services, then he can link them to ChatGPT Health.

Users asking 30 crore health questions every week
The number of health questions on ChatGPT is increasing rapidly. According to OpenAI, in January, users were asking about 23 crore health- questions every week. Now this figure has increased to about 30 crore questions per week.

The company noticed another interesting thing during testing. About 70% of health- questions were asked by users in the general ChatGPT chat instead of a separate Health section. For this reason, the company is now giving users the option to use information to the Health section even in normal chat.

You will also get help in questions like food and allergies
After the new update, users will be able to use information to their health profile in normal conversations also. For example, if a user asks a food- question, ChatGPT can provide an answer based on their existing health information or allergies.

However, the user will have the option to decide whether he wants his health information to be used in general chat or not.

OpenAI claims – answers to health questions have improved
OpenAI says that its AI models have continuously improved in answering health- questions. The company uses an open-source benchmark called HealthBench to test the capabilities of its models.

According to the company, its new model has performed better in the HealthBench test than the previous generation model. OpenAI says that it is also working with doctors and medical experts to make health- answers better and safer.

Can ChatGPT replace a doctor?
No. OpenAI has clarified that ChatGPT should not be used as a substitute for diagnosis or treatment of any disease. The company says that even after receiving health- information, users should verify the necessary information and take treatment or other important medical decisions only on the basis of the advice of a doctor or qualified health professional.

This caution is also important because many studies have raised questions about the reliability of medical advice from AI chatbots.

Health feature rolled out amid lawsuit
This announcement of OpenAI has come at a time when a pastor from Florida, America has filed a lawsuit against the company. It is alleged that ChatGPT had allegedly given advice which suggested not consulting a doctor and could have resulted in a serious condition.

In response to this matter, OpenAI has cited its terms and conditions and said that its services are not designed for the diagnosis or treatment of any health condition. The company says that it is continuously working on making answers to health and medicines more secure.

Which users will get ChatGPT Health?
The new update of Health in ChatGPT is being rolled out in the US this week. Initially it will be available on web and iOS. Logged-in users of Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans will be able to take advantage of this.

At present, the company has not given any date in this announcement regarding its wide rollout in other countries including India.
