Major accident in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, Tata Sumo buried under a rock, 13 people died

Himachal Pradesh:A horrific road accident has come to light in Pangi valley of Chamba tribal district of Himachal Pradesh on Friday. Near Kadu Nala on Killar-Udaipur road, a huge rock (boulder) suddenly fell from the hill and fell on the moving Tata Sumo vehicle. In this accident, the vehicle was completely crushed and all the 13 people in it died tragically.

MLA confirmed

Bharmour-Pangi area MLA Dr. Janak Raj confirmed the accident and said that all the 13 passengers present in the vehicle died on the spot. As soon as information about the accident was received, the local administration and relief teams left for the spot.

Danger of landslide on sensitive route

The work of taking out the dead bodies from the wrecked vehicle and clearing the road is continuing on a war footing. During the rainy season, there is a constant danger of landslides and rock falls on this narrow and sensitive mountain route.

13 passengers died

On Friday, on the Pangi-Udaipur road located on the border of Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti districts, suddenly heavy rocks and debris fell on a moving Tata Sumo vehicle from the hill. In this horrific accident, 13 passengers died on the spot, while 2 people are said to be seriously injured. All the deceased were residents of Pangi Valley in Chamba district.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened near Kadu Nala. The impact of the rocks was so severe that the vehicle was blown to pieces and crushed badly under the debris. The pictures shared on social media after the incident are heart-wrenching, in which the vehicle is seen completely reduced to debris.

MLA’s appeal and network problem

Bharmour MLA Dr. Janakraj, while sharing information about the accident, urged the administration of both the districts to carry out relief work soon. DC Chamba Mukesh Repsava said that the area is extremely inaccessible and due to lack of mobile signal there, a lot of effort had to be put into gathering initial information.

Police team on the spot

Administratively, this area falls in Lahaul-Spiti district, due to which relief and rescue teams from BRO, local police and Chamba have been immediately dispatched to the spot. Despite the inaccessible geographical location, the rescue operation is being carried out on a war footing.
