There are claims that the Mumbai Indians and the CSK are in negotiations over a cut-price move involving Hardik Pandya. The report states MI see both players as precious pickups to strengthen their middle order following an underwhelming 2026 IPL campaign. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are apparently reluctant to release Ayush Mhatre, who is touted to be one of the franchise's brightest prospects.

However, CSK are reported to have offered another package involving Shivam Dube, top South African batter Dewald Brevis and an amount of 10 crore. Word has it that Chennai's ultimate decision over Brevis might come down to his performance in the next few overseas tournaments.

There has been no confirmation from Mumbai Indians or Chennai Super Kings on the speculation.
