Red Devils are now looking at other options after the Alex Scott setback

Manchester United now have three names on their list as they continue their search to strengthen the midfield.

The Red Devils missed out on Elliot Anderson, who completed a £116million move to Manchester City from Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

They also appear set to miss out on Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott, both of whom were highly placed on Michael Carrick’s wish list of midfield recruits.

Scott, the Bournemouth playmaker, was the subject of a £64million bid from Chelsea, Standard Sport understands, while Tchouameni is reported to have agreed a new contract at Real Madrid.

Some at United still believe the Frenchman could leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but Fabrizio Romano reports that he is unlikely to move.

Carrick’s side were given a boost in their pursuit of Scott when the England midfielder turned down a new contract on the Sussex coast, but Bournemouth’s position that he is not for sale at any price could still become a major obstacle.

As a result, The Guardian claims that United now have a list of three other targets they are considering as they look to add to the recent arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

One of the names on that list is Manu Kone, the Roma midfielder, who is also reportedly on Arsenal’s radar.

Another is the player Kone edged out in France’s World Cup squad this summer, Eduardo Camavinga, whose future at Real Madrid remains uncertain.

Sander Berge, the Norway international, completes the trio, with the Fulham midfielder a long-term target for United.

It is understood that INEOS would prefer either Camavinga or Berge, but the former is believed to be keen on staying in Spain.

Reports in Spain say that Jose Mourinho’s side would like to sell the Frenchman to make room for Rodri, who is at the top of their own wish list, with the Manchester City player out of contract at the Etihad Stadium next year.

L’Equipe claim that United have made an approach for Kone, while Corriere dello Sport have gone a step further and say that the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the player.
