According to the Meteorological Department, Kapurthala received the maximum rainfall of 38.5 mm. Apart from this, 26.5 mm rainfall was recorded in Rupnagar, 25 mm in Pathankot, 20.6 mm in Amritsar, 16 mm in Faridkot, 11 mm in Hoshiarpur and 10.5 mm in Gurdaspur.
Relief from heat continues in Punjab. People got relief from humidity and heat due to rain in many districts on Thursday. A drop of 0.2 degrees was recorded in the maximum temperature and it remained close to normal.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar on Saturday. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in other parts of the state. An orange alert has been issued for heavy rain in Punjab for three consecutive days from July 27.
The highest maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bathinda while the lowest minimum temperature was 23.8 degrees Celsius in Pathankot. An increase of 0.1 degree was recorded in the minimum temperature.
