Indian shooter Sainyam has earned a silver medal in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun held in Hangzhou, China. This achievement marks the beginning of India's medal tally at the competition. In a high-pressure final, Sainyam delivered an impressive performance, scoring 243.4 to secure her place on the podium against a competitive international field. She had previously qualified for the final with a score of 579.

Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, the President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), commended Sainyam's performance, stating, "Her podium finish in Hangzhou showcases her dedication and technical skill on the global stage. Competing against elite shooters requires remarkable composure, and her performance exemplifies the high standards she consistently aims for. We applaud her efforts and wish her ongoing success."

Pawankumar Singh, the NRAI Secretary General, remarked, "Sainyam's journey from junior medals to standing on senior World Cup podiums illustrates her development as a top shooter. Her ability to perform under pressure serves as an inspiration for young athletes in our domestic system."

Sainyam's impressive performance in Hangzhou follows her strong domestic results, where she excelled in the 10m Air Pistol Trial 2 finals at the National Selection Trials in New Delhi, scoring 243.1. This victory further solidified her momentum after winning a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha.

At just 22 years old, the Chandigarh-based shooter has steadily climbed the international ranks. She has previously secured gold medals at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl and the ISSF Junior World Championships in Changwon in 2023, along with a podium finish at the Khelo India Youth Games, reinforcing her position in the senior national team.

In addition to Sainyam, Suruchi Inder Singh also reached the final, finishing seventh with a score of 137.6 after qualifying with 579-20x.

Among the Indian contingent, Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker achieved the highest qualification score with 582-12x while competing under RPO (Ranking Points Only) status.

Esha Singh placed 13th with a score of 577-22x, while Lakshita recorded a score of 572-14x in her RPO event.
