Leeds United have started the window in strong fashion and are hoping to speed up their transfer business, with James Trafford now a major focus. As per yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the club are optimistic that a deal can be reached for the Manchester City goalkeeper after already bringing in free agent winger Harry Wilson and £34m centre-back Tarik Muharemovic.

The requirement for a new first-choice goalkeeper is obvious after Karl Darlow left as a free agent to sign for Manchester United. A fresh contract was available at Elland Road, but Leeds’ plans to recruit a goalkeeper meant he could not be assured of the starting role. Leeds are also still working on Julian Brandt, while the club have already ruled out one other priority target.

Lucas Perri’s future is still unclear amid interest from Torino. He is not expected to leave until a first-choice replacement is in place.

Illan Meslier left last month when his contract expired and has since moved to Arsenal, where he is currently third choice.

Sebastiaan Bornauw has been linked in Germany with a summer switch to FC Koln, who are looking for more defensive experience. It is not yet known whether the Belgian wants to go or whether Leeds would agree to a sale.

Pascal Struijk has joined Brighton in a deal believed to be worth £18m plus £2m in add-ons, with a sell-on clause also included. Isaac Schmidt has moved to BSC Young Boys for around £2m, helping protect the full-back’s book value.
