Music composer Amaal Mallik sparked a major controversy on Thursday after posting a scathing note on X (formerly Twitter), taking aim at fellow composer Tanishk Bagchi with a series of serious allegations. While Amaal did not mention Tanishk by name, he referred to him as "Mr Remix & Destroyer of Originals", leaving little doubt about whom he was addressing.
Amaal Mallik's allegations come just days after Tanishk Bagchi publicly claimed he had not been paid the royalty for the blockbuster film Saiyaara 's title track. On Saturday, Tanishk took to Instagram to allege that he was yet to receive Rs 8 lakh in royalty for the chartbuster despite the documentation and paperwork related to the song. Sharing the film's poster, the composer said he felt betrayed over not being paid what he was owed. However, the post was later deleted, and Tanishk has not publicly commented on Amaal's latest allegations.
In the lengthy post, Amaal accused the composer of copying songs, using paid publicity, taking credit for others' work and behaving unfairly within the music industry. He also made unverified allegations regarding his conduct with female singers and claimed that several artists had remained silent over copied songs.

He went on to accuse the composer of using paid public relations campaigns featuring old photographs of him.
"You've earned the money for paid PR from the label, but you're spending it in the wrong place," Amaal wrote, while also questioning why the composer continued calling him and referring to him as a brother.
Claims 'Saiyaara' title track was taken from original composersOne of Amaal's biggest allegations centred around the title track of Saiyaara.
He claimed the song originally belonged to composers Faheem Abdullah and Arsalan Nizami, alleging that it was taken from them to secure a place in filmmaker Mohit Suri 's project.
Amaal further claimed that if the original composers released their version, titled Saiyaan Mere, people would know who actually created the song.
These allegations have not been independently verified, and neither Tanishk Bagchi nor the makers of Saiyaara have publicly responded to the claims at the time of writing.
Makes allegations about copied songs and royaltiesThe composer also alleged that several songs credited to Tanishk were copied from Pakistani tracks, folk melodies, YouTube covers and works by other composers.
He further claimed that artists such as Jubin Nautiyal and composer Rocky Khanna chose not to raise objections over certain songs out of respect and professional relationships.
In another part of the post, Amaal accused the composer of speaking privately against music label T-Series and Bhushan Kumar, while publicly remaining silent.
Serious allegations over treatment of female singersAmaal also made serious, unverified allegations regarding the composer's behaviour towards female singers, claiming multiple women had negative experiences but did not formally come forward.
These claims remain allegations made by Amaal on social media, and no legal complaint or official confirmation regarding these accusations has been presented.

"This is a statutory warning, don't mess with me, you'll regret it," he wrote, adding that he was not competing with any composer of his generation but wanted to expose what he described as unfair practices in the industry.
At the time of publishing, Tanishk Bagchi has not publicly responded to Amaal Mallik's allegations.
