Lucknow. The demand for appointment of 6800 backward class candidates in the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers turned into a big movement in the capital on Friday. Hundreds of candidates reached the official residence of Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh and tried to surround it. The police stopped them by barricading. After this, a period of pushing, sloganeering and uproar started on the spot. When the situation worsened, the police picked up many protesters, made them sit in buses, detained them and sent them to Eco Garden.

Since morning, candidates from different districts of the state started reaching Lucknow. By noon, hundreds of candidates gathered outside the official residence of the Education Minister. The protesters tried to gherao the residence, raising slogans like “Yogi Baba do justice”, “Give appointment” and “Keep the promise”. The police stopped them from moving forward through barricades, after which tension increased at the spot.

Hanged and made to sit in buses, candidates sent to Eco Garden

Seeing the situation getting out of control, the police started action. Policemen lifted and hung many candidates and took them to the buses. After this everyone was taken into custody and sent to Eco Garden. Heavy police force remained deployed in the entire area and security was increased around the minister’s residence.

Government accused of discrimination

Candidates say that 6800 candidates from backward class should get appointment, but in the government process only about 3300 people are likely to get a chance. They allege that despite repeatedly raising demands, the government is not taking any concrete decision.

Issue of Supreme Court affidavit also raised

The protesters claimed that the government has mentioned 8270 seats in the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court. They allege that these include the names of 4946 candidates who have already been left out of the recruitment process thrice. In such a situation, injustice is being done to the genuinely eligible candidates.

Emotional pictures also surfaced during the demonstration

During the uproar, a candidate became unconscious and fell on the road. The child of a female candidate, who had come to the protest with her small child, was taken to a safe place by the policemen, who took her in her lap. These pictures also created an emotional atmosphere amid the movement.

Warning- If appointment is not given then agitation will be more violent.

The candidates clearly said that the agitation will continue until 6800 candidates are appointed. On the other hand, the police say that to maintain law and order, the protesters have been removed and sent to Eco Garden. At present the situation is under control, but the issue of teacher recruitment has once again heated up in the politics and streets of the state.
