New Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has said that the Premier League’s 115 charges against the club are “not a concern” for him.

The charges, which relate to alleged breaches of the league’s financial rules, were first brought against the club in February 2023, and the hearing finished in December 2024. Even so, the result of the case is still to be made public.

Manchester City have denied any wrongdoing.

“No, to be honest,” Maresca replied when he was asked whether the charges were a concern for him when he took the job. “The only thing I can say is that three years ago, during the treble season, I was here. And there were the same words about this kind of problem.

“In three years, it is still the same, so nothing happened. I do not have anything to say because it is something that is there.”

City’s new manager had been working at the club as Pep Guardiola’s assistant when the Premier League’s charges were first announced. He has now returned to the Etihad to take charge after Guardiola stepped down at the end of last season.

Maresca went on: “But again, the only thing I can say is that the way the organisation is working is to show how serious they are, how good they are, bringing titles and more things.”

City have consistently stood by their denial of the alleged financial breaches. Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak recently said: “Let me be as consistent as I’ve always been. Until we have a ruling, I can’t say much.

“Once we have a ruling, believe me, we’re going to have a wonderful sit down together. And I’ll say everything I’ve wanted to say for the last three years.”
