Veteran actor Shagufta Ali has shared her memories of working with Karisma Kapoor while also offering her personal opinion on why the immensely popular Govinda-Karisma Kapoor pairing eventually disappeared from the big screen. Speaking during an interview with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Shagufta opened up on her experience of working alongside Karisma in ' Hero No. 1 ' and discussed what she believes contributed to the end of one of Bollywood's most successful on-screen partnerships. The actor also spoke about the importance of professionalism on film sets. She explained why mutual respect between co-stars is essential during filming and promotional activities.

Shagufta Ali shares her view on Govinda-Karisma pairing

During the conversation, Shagufta was asked why Govinda and Karisma stopped appearing together after delivering several blockbuster films. Sharing her personal opinion, she suggested that changing priorities and personal dynamics may have played a role. She said, "Interest khatam ho gaya hoga. Pyaar mohabbat khatam ho gaya hoga. Heroines ke mood ka bhi kya bharosa hai. Aur bahut zyada ambitious hona bhi achha nahi hai. Karisma over-ambitious thi. She was very hardworking, lekin attitude bhi bahut zyada tha." ("Perhaps the interest had faded. Maybe the love and affection had come to an end. You can never be sure about a heroine's mood. And being excessively ambitious isn't always a good thing. Karisma was over-ambitious. She was very hardworking, but she also had a lot of attitude.")

Importance of teamwork on film sets

Shagufta elaborated on what she meant by attitude and professionalism. According to her, acting is a collaborative process that requires equal participation from everyone involved. She added, "It was evident everywhere. The attitude you bring to the set and the way you behave make a difference too. If someone is your co-actor, there has to be give and take. Whether you're doing a scene together or giving an interview, both people should get an equal chance to speak. It affects our performance as well. If I'm there on set to give you cues, then you should also be there for me. Or don't be, I can perform scenes without cues too. That's how I've managed to survive in this industry for 40 years."

Their collaboration in 'Hero No. 1'

Shagufta Ali and Karisma Kapoor worked together in David Dhawan's 1997 comedy 'Hero No. 1'. The film featured an ensemble cast including Govinda, Paresh Rawal, Satish Shah, Kader Khan and Tiku Talsania. Apart from 'Hero No. 1', the duo appeared together in films such as 'Coolie No. 1', 'Raja Babu', 'Saajan Chale Sasural', 'Shikari' and 'Haseena Maan Jaayegi'.
