New Delhi: India delivered a commanding performance in the second T20I against Zimbabwe, securing a 90-run victory in Harare to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. After posting a massive 219/5, the visitors’ bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the chase and bowled Zimbabwe out of the contest.

The foundation of India’s big total was laid by Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma, who produced brilliant half-centuries. Kishan scored 81 runs off 44 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes, while Tilak remained unbeaten on 60 from just 29 deliveries, including five fours and three sixes. With his brilliant performance, Kishan bags the Player of the Match award.

The pair added 94 runs for the fourth wicket, taking India beyond the 200-run mark. Earlier, young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also provided a quick start with a 9-ball 20, smashing three fours and a six.

Yash Thakur shines on debut

Zimbabwe had a difficult task chasing 220, especially against India’s strong bowling attack. Debutant Yash Thakur made an immediate impact by taking the first wicket and showed his ability to strike at crucial moments.

Although Mayank Yadav could not repeat his impressive performance from the previous match, India’s bowling unit continued to trouble the hosts. Prince Yadav was outstanding, picking up two wickets in just eight balls before being forced to leave the field with a hamstring issue while running in to bowl.

India complete all-round display in Harare

The pressure created by the main bowlers allowed India’s part-time options to make an impact as well. The supporting bowlers combined to take five wickets, with Abhishek Sharma leading the way with an impressive three-wicket haul.

Zimbabwe had won the toss and decided to bowl first but they were unable to contain India’s batting attack or build any momentum during the chase. With this victory, India sealed the series and will now look to complete a clean sweep in the final T20I.
