New Delhi: Yash Thakur’s wait for an India cap finally came to an end on Saturday as the Vidarbha fast bowler made his T20I debut in the second match of the series against Zimbabwe. The 27-year-old was included in the playing XI after replacing Ashok Sharma, who featured in the series opener but went wicketless despite bowling his full quota of four overs.

The change came after Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and chose to field first. India entered the match with confidence after securing a comfortable seven-wicket victory in the opening T20I, giving them a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

For Yash, the selection marked a big milestone after years of consistent performances in domestic cricket and for India A. His steady rise through the ranks has now earned him a chance to represent the senior national side.

Yash Thakur has built a strong reputation as a reliable fast bowler on the domestic circuit. While representing Vidarbha, he has regularly impressed with his ability to take wickets across different phases of a T20 innings.

Before receiving his maiden India call-up, the right-arm pacer had played 74 T20 matches and picked up 110 wickets in 74 innings. Those numbers, along with his displays for India A, helped him catch the attention of the selectors.
