New Delhi: Pralhad Joshi will succeed Dharmendra Pradhan as India’s Education Minister.
Hours after Pradhan resigned amid growing demonstrations by the Cockroach Janta Party, and students and youth of India, Joshi was assigned additional charge of the Ministry of Education.
A Lok Sabha MP from Dharwad in Karnataka, Joshi is already the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy in the Narendra Modi cabinet.
Joshi also serves as president of the International Solar Alliance.
President Droupadi Murmu, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, accepted Pradhan’s resignation.
President Murmu further directed that Pralhad Joshi, a Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Education in addition to his existing portfolio.
