Berlin. A small private plane crashed on the roof of a house in a residential area in northwestern Germany on Saturday.
Two people on board the plane died in the accident. Confirming the accident, the local police said that investigation into the matter has been started.
According to police, the light plane crashed in the Ganderkje area, which is located near Oldenburg. The plane directly hit the sloping roof of a house, causing it to sink into the roof.
According to preliminary information, the police had said that one of the two people on board the plane has died, while the other is missing.
Later, after a long and complex operation to clear the debris, it was confirmed that both passengers had died in the crash. The age of the deceased is said to be 65 years and 77 years and both were residents of Bremen city of Germany.
After the accident, nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution. After the debris removal work was completed, local residents were allowed to return to their homes safely.
Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the plane crash. At present it is not clear whether the accident occurred due to technical fault, weather reasons or any other reason.
