'Avengers: Doomsday' new footage and poster: Old MCU star's return to Doctor Doom's backstory - New details revealed

The San Diego Comic-Con event held recently has brought about many new developments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe . From Ryan Gosling's casting as the new Ghost Rider to Fans getting a whole new Black Panther for a 2028 release, many new projects have been announced. Additionally, a brand new clip for the upcoming Marvel film ‘ Avengers: Doomsday ’ was also screened at the event for fans exclusively. The new clip brought about much excitement, including the return of an old MCU character as well as more details about Dr Doom's back story.

About the new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ footageThe cast of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ attended the event to promote the film and talk more about upcoming projects. Robert Downey Jr who last appeared in the MCU film in 2019, will take over the role of Dr Doom this coming December. While on stage, Entertainment Weekly reported that Downey got up on stage and said, “Decisions will have to be made, you’ll have to be on the side of the good guys, or you’ll have to consider the alternative… joining a family of doom. Come over to the green side.”

The clip and the panel also officially confirmed that actress Hayley Atwell would be returning as Peggy Carter in ‘Doomsday’, which is slated to release in December this year. The trailer also showed more details about Dr Doom's backstory and where he came from. Rather than being from one of the main Earths like most of the other Marvel heroes and villains, Dr Doom belongs to Earth 818, which is specifically where the ‘Fantastic Four’ group is from.

In another part of the clip, Vanessa Kirby, who plays Sue Storm, is seen giving a montage. She says, “He’s always the smartest guy in every world… he used to be different. He used to be kind, he used to be caring… Everything he loved was taken from him… I knew he was lost, and I did not realise that he was broken.” In another part of the footage, Doctor Doom is seen being surrounded by his minions, the Sentinels, while he fights off Thor, the God of Thunder.

The event was attended by Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, and Pedro Pascal. Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Hannah John-Kamen, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Danny Ramsey, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, and Winston Duke attended. Joe and Anthony Russo were also at the event, and teased minor tales about the project. Anthony concluded the H panel and stated, “We still have work to do to bring you the best possible doomsday we can, so we’re going to go get to work.”

Robert Downey Jr reveals details about ‘Avengers: Doomsday’Robert Downey Jr, who once played Iron Man up until his character’s passing in ‘Endgame,' will be taking on a brand new role as the villain. Recently, he shared new details about the upcoming Avengers film. While talking to Entertainment Weekly about all of this, he shared, “There’s the science thing, and they’re considered pretty brilliant guys. But Tony had the trauma that turned him into a hero, and Doom’s got the exact opposite, to where it takes the prowess of all of these folks to go up against him, and it was a joy to behold.”

He further shared that one of the characters, which also affected him a lot, adding that, “It was really weird to be on the other side of the bad-guy mask because it’s such an isolated vibe. I’m seeing them all socializing and stuff, and I am the enemy!”

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is slated to release in December this year.
