Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly set to return, while all-rounder Nitish Reddy is unlikely to be part of India's Test squad for their upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
India will play two Tests against Sri Lanka in Galle and Colombo from August 15 to 27. The squad for the two-match Test series is set to be picked on Tuesday, July 28. As per a report in Cricbuzz, India's Test squad is expected not to be much different from the squad that played against Afghanistan at home last month, barring a few changes. Bumrah, who missed the one-off Test against Afghanistan at home, is expected to make his comeback in the whites against Sri Lanka. Mohammed Siraj, who led India's pace attack in the absence of Bumrah against Afghanistan, is also expected to be part of India's Test squad for the Sri Lanka series. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the selectors will give a chance to Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi, who was the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy last season and played a key role in his side's maiden triumph. Nitish Kumar Reddy likely to miss Sri Lanka Test series India will be without their first-choice pace all-rounder Nitish Reddy in the Test series against Sri Lanka. Reddy is currently undergoing his rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru as he continues to recover from a quadricep injury suffered earlier this year. Reddy is yet to attain full fitness and thus will not be part of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Though he has started bowling at the BCCI CoE, Reddy has not received clearance to play five-day games. The all-rounder might make his comeback in India's next white-ball series in September. Shubman Gill will continue to lead India in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and will hope to lead the visitors to victory as they aim to improve their standings in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) points table.
