New Delhi. Former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has given a big decision even before the 2028 Assembly elections. In Mandya he clearly said that he will not contest the 2028 elections. He also said that he will remain in active politics and will continue to raise voice for the happiness and sorrow of the people. His statement has started a new discussion in Karnataka politics.

In such an environment, I have decided that I will not contest the 2028 Assembly elections. However, he also made it clear that not contesting elections does not mean staying away from politics. He said that in future also he will continue to raise his voice on public issues. According to Siddaramaiah, his age is now 79 years. By the time the government’s tenure is over, he will be 81-82 years old. I don’t have the same energy as before, so I haven’t decided to contest the elections. He told that by 2028 he will complete 50 years of his political career. His political journey started in 1978 as a Taluk Board member.

Varuna was under pressure to contest elections again

Siddaramaiah said that the people of Varuna Assembly constituency wanted to see him contest the elections once again. Despite this, he has decided not to contest any further elections. He said that earlier the public used to help the candidates in the elections, but now the situation has changed. In his address, Siddaramaiah said that today leaders have to pay money to people to contest elections. According to him, the space for honest politics is continuously decreasing. This is the reason why he decided not to contest elections in future. However, he also said that the rest of his life would also be dedicated to serving the public.
