CPSE Employees IDA Hike July 2026: There is good news for executives and non-unionized supervisors working in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, recently issued a notification regarding the new Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) rates effective from July 1, 2026.

Dearness Allowance (DA/IDA) is a crucial component of an employee's salary, revised periodically to mitigate the impact of rising inflation. Here are the newly fixed IDA rates based on different pay scales and how they will affect your take-home salary.

1987 to 2017 Pay Scales: New IDA Rates

According to the notification issued by the Department of Public Enterprises, the new IDA rates effective from July 1, 2026, are as follows:

2017 Pay Scale: The IDA for employees under this pay scale has increased to 55.7%.

2007 Pay Scale: The new IDA rate for employees in this category has been fixed at 241.7%.

1997 Pay Scale: The IDA for employees on the 1997 pay scale has been revised to 476.9%.

1987 Pay Scale: For employees following the 1987 pay scale, an amount of ₹18,298 has been fixed based on the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) average level of ₹9,854.

What will be the impact on salary?

This hike in IDA will lead to an increase in the employees' take-home salary. The extent of the rise in your salary depends on your basic pay and the applicable pay scale. To illustrate, if a CPSE employee has a basic pay of ₹50,000 under the 2017 pay scale, their IDA component will now amount to ₹27,850 based on the new rate of 55.7%. Similarly, the increase in total salary will vary depending on the specific pay scale and basic pay.

What are CPSEs, and why do they receive a distinct allowance?

Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) are government-owned companies operating in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and financial services. The pay scales and allowances for CPSE employees differ from those of employees working in Central Government ministries. For CPSEs, the Dearness Allowance is calculated based on the Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA) pattern.

The DPE has directed all administrative ministries and departments to ensure the immediate implementation of these revised rates across all CPSEs under their control.
