In a recent print edition, Italian outlet Corriere di Bologna (24 July, Page 6) said that Manchester United have set their sights on Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe. It has been reported that the Red Devils are looking at a move to bring the English wide player to Old Trafford this summer.

Rowe enjoyed a strong spell of form at Bologna in the previous campaign, producing a series of eye-catching displays on the left side. The English talent recorded eight goals and five assists in 44 matches for the Italian club last season across all competitions.

The 23-year-old is now considered one of the most gifted wingers in Serie A. Because of that, Man United would be wise to secure his signature in this transfer window.

His current deal with the Italian side runs until the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to land him on a low-cost deal this off-season.

Rowe is a skilful dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create problems for his marker on the wings. He also has the vision to play decisive passes in the final third and can strike the ball with real power from distance.

The English star did well to add a good number of goals and assists to his game last season. Rowe is mainly a left-winger, but he can also operate as an attacking midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so. Even so, there are still some doubts over whether he can adjust to the physical demands and high tempo of the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to sign him later this year.

We can expect Rowe to add more quality and depth to Man United boss Michael Carrick’s attacking line. He has the ability to compete for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford in the coming years.

At 23, Rowe still has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a sensible option for the Red Devils to target in this summer transfer window. Hence, Carrick should concentrate on moving in for him this off-season.
