New Delhi: After a week of washout following students’ protest, the Parliament will reconvene today , after a few hours, but question whether peace will return to the House as Opposition intends to capitalize on Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation by putting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on target over police action, including the use of pellet guns, against agitators.
Sources said a final call on the floor strategy will be taken at a meeting of INDIA bloc leaders on Monday morning. A senior Congress leader said that in 2024 also a task force was appointed on exam reforms. so nothing new in this committee headed by Nandan Nilekani.It cannot be ignored that protesters had to face lethal assault from police.
On the other hand, government is ready and listed the Public Examinations(prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in Lok Sabha on the first day itself. The treasury benches are ready to push their legislative agenda, given the washout of Parliament last week, with Lok Sabha functioning for 94 minutes and Rajya Sabha for 104 minutes. Opposition is looking towards keep up pressure on the government after Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
It remains to be seen, whether the Parliament would function normally from today? It depends on whether the congress led Opposition will obstruct the business of parliament. However, there are differing views in the Opposition too over which issue to be taken up.
Some regional parties say that they should move on from the issue, as Pradhan’s resignation was an achievement and sticking to it would not benefit much.
