Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, expressed his country’s continued backing for the Lebanese militant organization Hezbollah, commending the group for its ‘resilience’ against Israel. These comments came amid increased tensions in the Middle East.
Praises Hezbollah’s Resistance
On his personal account on the social networking site According to him, Hezbollah was being like an unyielding rock when facing the aggression of the Israelis. Khamenei noted that the resistance of Hezbollah had turned out to be an example of fighting for freedom from oppression.
Khamenei stressed that resistance remained the only way to fight injustice and foreign pressure in the region.
Reiterates Iran’s Strategic Partnership
According to the Iranian leader, Tehran takes its strategic obligation to protect Hezbollah and territorial integrity of Lebanon very seriously. In addition, according to the Ayatollah, the future agreement between the United States and others regarding the end of the current conflict in the region would also lead to the end of Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
Tribute to Nasrallah and Hezbollah Combatants
Khamenei also made tribute to Hezbollah’s former secretary-general, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, among others who died while performing their duties, claiming their efforts had helped transform Hezbollah into a formidable organization in the region. He appreciated the people of southern Lebanon for supporting the organization and their growth had helped increase Lebanon’s prestige in the Islamic world.
