India's Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh suffered defeat to their Namibian counterparts, after three wins on the trot in the competition, in the lawn bowls women's pairs sectional event at the Commonwealth Games here on Sunday.
Rupa and Pinki lost the nerve-wracking tie-break 0-3 against the Namibian pair of Amanda Steenkamp and Diana Viljoen after both teams won a set each in the section B match. The Indians lost the first set 5-7 but came back strong to win the second set 10-1.
On Saturday, the Indian team of Rupa and Pinki had beaten Tonga 2-0 in tie-break to notch their third win on the trot.
Meanwhile, India’s Putul Sonowal suffered his first defeat in the men’s singles lawn bowls competition, going down 8-4, 9-8 to Malaysia’s Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple in a crucial Section D encounter.
India’s Protistha Samanta qualified for the women’s vault final after finishing fifth in the qualification competition. The 22-year-old from West Bengal scored 13.025 across her two vaults.

In swimming, India’s men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team kept medal hopes alive by qualifying for the final after finishing third in their heat.
The quartet of Dhakshan Shashikumar, Aneesh Sunil Kumar Gowda, Aryan Nehra and Srihari Nataraj clocked 7:39.48 to finish behind Australia and England in their heat and qualified fifth overall across the two heats.
