SAIL Rourkela Vacancy 2026: SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant has issued a notification for apprentice recruitment for the 2026-27 period. Who can apply?
Applicants must have passed the relevant course (ITI, Engineering Diploma, or Degree) from a recognized institution through a regular mode of study. Only candidates who completed their qualification in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible. Requirements include an ITI qualification in the relevant trade for Trade Apprentices, a diploma in the relevant engineering branch for Diploma Apprentices, and a graduate degree in the relevant engineering or non-engineering subject for Graduate Apprentices. Additionally, candidates who have previously completed an apprenticeship at any institution or are currently undergoing one are ineligible to apply. Candidates possessing one year or more of work experience are also not eligible for this recruitment.
Application Deadline and Age Limit
The online application process for this recruitment drive began on July 17, and interested candidates can apply until August 26, 2026. Applications for Trade Apprentices are to be submitted via the NAPS portal, while those for Graduate and Diploma Apprentices must be submitted through the NATS portal. Regarding the age limit, candidates must be between 18 and 28 years of age as of August 31, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will receive age relaxation in accordance with government regulations.
How will selection take place without an exam?
No written examination will be conducted for this recruitment process. Candidates will be selected based on their academic achievements. When preparing the merit list, 30% weightage will be given to Class 10 marks, and 70% weightage will be given to marks obtained in the relevant ITI, diploma, or degree examination. Candidates included in the merit list will be called to Rourkela for document verification. Final selection will be based on document verification and available vacancies.
