New Delhi: The Greater Noida Authority is planning a major infrastructure upgrade in the region. They plan to build the first double-decker flyover in the city. This flyover is being planned at Shahberi and would connect Greater Noida West to Ghaziabad. Once this flyover becomes functional, it is expected to unclog, one of the busiest traffic corridors of the National Capital Region (NCR).

Project to cost Rs 900 crore: Greater Noida Authority

According to a report in NDTV, the Greater Noida Authority believes that this entire project would cost Rs 900 crore. It is being designed to connect the 130-metre road in Greater Noida West with Shahberi, Crossings Republik and NH-9. The double decker flyover would provide residents of these locations better connectivity to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

The project will be a blessing for thousands of office goers, who have to navigate through heavy traffic daily, to reach the Expressway. This flyover will cut down travel time and also provide smoother journeys.

The flyover would be of 6 lanes and would be Greater Noida’s first double-decker structure. The Authority hopes to considerably manage traffic by increasing the corridor’s traffic capacity. The move comes amid rapid residential expansion in Greater Noida West. Over the last few years, this has become the preferred location of new home buyers, but infrastructure in the area has failed to keep pace.

Heavy traffic to Noida, Ghaziabad and Noida has made it a motorists nightmare. The traffic is accompanied by narrow stretches of the road in Shahberi.

Ashish Agarwal, Director, AU Real Estate was quoted as saying, “The proposed double-decker flyover at Shahberi is a strong indication of how infrastructure planning is evolving to match the pace of urban expansion in Greater Noida West. This corridor will not only ease congestion but also strengthen the region’s appeal for end-users seeking better quality of life.”

Double decker flyover an infrastructure milestone, say developers

Several real estate developers described this proposed double-decker flyover as an infrastructure milestone in Greater Noida West. Manoj Gaur, CMD of the Gaurs Group said that this flyover would fulfill one of the long-pending demands of the Greater Noida West residents. He described it as a much-awaited development for the region. He added, “The project will enhance connectivity across the entire Greater Noida West region and directly benefit Gaur City, which is home to more than 5 lakh residents.”

He also said that it will provide direct connectivity to NH-24 and benefit thousands of daily commuters.

Apart from benefitting the residents of the city, the flyover would also lead to stronger residential and commercial demands in the region. This would be not only true for Greater Noida West, but also for regions beyond. This corridor would also improve accessibility to the Jewar Airport. All this together would help bring in more investment in the region.
