New Delhi: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has been leaked online. A high-quality bootleg of the film has been leaked on X (formerly Twitter), and it has been watched by millions over the weekend.

On July 25, a high-quality version of the film was leaked online, and it received over 2.1 million views within just two and a half hours.

A viral post on X read, “Someone uploaded ‘The Odyssey’ full movie on X. Can you believe it?”. The user amplified the message from a now-suspended account.

Universal Pictures took down the pirated version of the film. The production house also released a statement to Deadline which read, “We became aware of the unauthorised posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights.”

However, a few clones of the Bottlehead film are still available on X, but they’ve been mostly flooded away by mislabeled files that promise The Odyssey, but they actually show a Rickroll, a longtime internet prank of tricking people into watching the music video of the 1987 song ‘Never Gonna Give Up’ by Rick Ashley.

Despite the leak, the box office numbers have not been impacted. According to Sacnilk, the film has earned USD 640 million globally. In India, the film minted Rs 142.86 crore gross in India and Rs 119.65 crore net in India.

The film is now inching closer to the USD 700 million mark globally and is expected to soon surpass USD 1 billion at the box office.

The Odyssey is an epic action-fantasy film directed by Christopher Nolan and based on the ancient Greek epic poem by Homer. Set after the fall of Troy, the film follows Odysseus (Matt Damon) as he struggles to return to his kingdom of Ithaca and reunite with his wife, Penelope, and son, Telemachus. His voyage is filled with mythical creatures, gods, deadly temptations, and life-threatening challenges, including encounters with the Cyclops, Sirens, Circe, and Poseidon’s wrath.

While Odysseus fights to survive at sea, Penelope fends off suitors determined to seize the throne, and Telemachus embarks on his own journey in search of his father.

The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendeya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, Himesh Patel, Samantha Morton, Cosmos Jasvis, Charlize Theron, among others.
