OG Sita, Deepika Chikhalia, is on the fence about Sai Pallavi playing the role of the Hindu goddess in Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana”, saying she’s not sure if her face card can pull off the portrayal.

Praising Pallavi’s work, the 61-year-old actress said, “She’s a phenomenal actor. But I don’t know how she’ll look like Sita. Once we see her, we’ll know. At the moment, I have no clue. The description of Sita in Tulsidas’ “Ramayan” was that of a woman with almond eyes, a certain height, hair and skin. That’s what Ramanand Sagar was looking for, and he saw it in me. I know all of them are good actors. If they fit the bill, then it’s good,” reports Variety India.

She also recalled her days in the industry and how, after playing Sita, she faced problems getting roles, which is continuing to this day, ultimately leading to her career change as a producer. But how times have changed now, though after working in films like “Barfi”, “Animal” and “Sanju”, the audiences are ready to accept Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama without typecasting him.

She expressed confidence in the film’s prospects, saying the calibre of the artists involved alone would make it worth watching. The actress also observed that the enduring success of Ramayan stemmed from its perfectly chosen cast, with every actor embodying their respective character convincingly, complemented by Ravindra Jain’s memorable music.
