'Batted 1000 Balls For 3 Hours': Suryakumar Yadav Drops Subtle Hint to Indian Team Management After Intense Training Session

Suryakumar Yadav has stated he hasn't lost hope of representing India again. Following his omission from the T20 international team, the senior batter posted a video of himself hitting the nets and showed his dedication to securing a recall in the Indian setup.

Less than a day since India clinched a 3-0 T20I series victory against Zimbabwe, Suryakumar uploaded a video of a practice session at the Vasoo Paranjape Cricket Academy. In the footage, he was seen running, batting and sweating it out.

Along with the video, the 35-year-old wrote:

Saturday was nice. Fire off. Got in about 1,000 swings in three hours. Felt great.

The post, no doubt, instantly grabbed fans' attention, with many perceiving it to be a message that he was fighting hard to make his way back to the Indian set-up.

Suryakumar Focused on India Comeback

Many people found the absence of Suryakumar from the T20I team report odd. Only a few months back, he was captaining India to the 2026 T20 World Cup victory, and now he is out of the team, stating that he will have to prove himself again. The selectors announced a new captain in the form of Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar is part of the new crew who are yet to settle down.

Although he was in top form with the ball during the World Cup, his recent form with the bat hasn't been the best. He has lacked consistency in IPL 206 and that certainly influenced the selectors' choice.

Now, while reacting publicly is not something Suryakumar has indulged in after the setback, he seems to have directed his attention to improving his game rather than indulging in typical hot-headed outbursts in public.

Agarkar Explains Selection Decision

It was stated by the selection chief, Ajit Agarkar, that it was a selection based on form as well as continuity in plans for India.

"As far as Surya, well, it's a bit of a tough one... After winning the World Cup. But it's probably the case after every World Cup we sit back and reevaluate what the best course of action should be."

He further added:

Part of it is his own form as well, but also to look at the next two-year cycle or slightly longer than that; next two years is how we thought was the best way to go forward. Of course, it's not a decision to take lightly. To have someone who led you in a World Cup, you do need a little time to try and change things. But as I said, we haven't had any international cricket after that World Cup, partly form, but the other thing is how we go forward is always in your mind.

With the upcoming T20 World Cup and the return of cricket to the Olympics in Los Angeles 2028, the battle for places is only likely to intensify.

For Suryakumar, the message is obvious. He's prepared to work hard, develop and wait. His recent training post says it all. And so does this post.
