New Delhi:  The makers of The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj have expanded the film’s star-studded lineup with the addition of actress Bhumi Pednekar, who will portray the courageous warrior queen Belawadi Mallamma. Her casting adds further strength to the ambitious historical drama, which stars Rishab Shetty in the titular role, alongside Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, and an ensemble of acclaimed actors.

Belawadi Mallamma is remembered in history for her fearless leadership and unwavering courage, making the role a significant addition to Bhumi’s filmography.

Sharing her excitement about being part of the project, Bhumi Pednekar said, “I’m deeply honoured to be part of the first-ever Indian cinematic spectacle of this scale on the life and legacy of the great Maratha warrior-king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It’s a privilege for me to play Karnataka’s brave warrior queen, Belawadi Mallamma, and bring her to life on screen. I am a huge Kantara fan, and Rishab Shetty’s performance left a lasting impression on me. The moment Sandeep Singh narrated the film, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. This is unlike anything I’ve done before, and I’m grateful to the makers for trusting me with such a unique character.”

Directed and produced by Sandeep Singh, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is being mounted on a grand scale as a two-part cinematic saga chronicling the life and legacy of the legendary Maratha king.

The screenplay has been penned by Rishi Virmani, while Amit Trivedi will compose the music and National Award-winning lyricist Prasoon Joshi has been roped in to write the songs. With pre-production progressing at full pace and a team comprising celebrated actors and internationally acclaimed technicians, the film is expected to go on floors later this year.
