On July 27, in Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) asserted that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will not resolve the issue surrounding the leak of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question paper. The party accused the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of causing harm to the nation. In a scathing editorial published in their mouthpiece, the party labeled the proposed Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 as mere deception.

According to the party, the new law is essentially unchanged from its predecessor, with only adjustments made to the penalties and sentences. The editorial criticized the government's approach, stating that it has consistently shown a willingness to bow to 'cockroaches'. It further claimed that the 'arrogant' government resorted to force against these 'cockroaches' while the youth of the country remained steadfast at Jantar Mantar.

The editorial emphasized, 'The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan will not conclude this matter. The actions of the 'big Pradhan' (Prime Minister Modi) and his administration have been detrimental to the country. Home Minister Amit Shah's hands are stained with blood, and public anger will eventually turn towards him as well.'

It was also pointed out that the 'Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026' proposes penalties of up to 10 years in prison and fines reaching 10 crore rupees for question paper leaks, which the party argues is merely a stricter version of the old law.

The Shiv Sena claimed that this bill is a tactic to deceive students and their parents. Following weeks of protests by the 'Cockroach People's Party' (Cozpa) in Delhi, Pradhan resigned on Saturday. This movement successfully united millions around the issues of exam irregularities and the NEET paper leak.

After the government conceded to some of Cozpa's demands, including providing 'respectable' compensation to families of students who committed suicide and withdrawing cases against protesters in Delhi and BJP-ruled states, the party decided to call off the protests. The opposition party noted that Prime Minister Modi and Shah have become subjects of ridicule as the youth have creatively used slogans and memes to criticize the government.

The party remarked that during the Cozpa protests, the creativity of the youth and digital technology flourished. They highlighted that the suicides of 20 students ignited outrage and unified the nation, prompting young demonstrators to gather at Jantar Mantar. The party accused Shah of ordering police to charge at students and even to fire if necessary.

The Shiv Sena concluded by stating that the Home Minister cannot evade accountability, and Prime Minister Modi will ultimately have to apologize to the nation for his 'inhumane' actions.
