Bhubaneswar: Dana Majhi, who shot into limelight after carrying his wife’s body for ten kms in 2016 in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, has lodged an FIR against the makers of short film ‘Laash’.

Majhi, a tribal man from Kalahandi district, has filed the complaint alleging that the short film was a portrayal of his real-life story.

The tribal man, who carried his wife’s body on shoulders after allegedly being denied a hearse, claimed that the makers of the film did not contact him and obtain his permission for depiction of his story.

Majhi has filed an FIR against Manoj Bag, Sambalpur-based producer of short film Laash, with the police at Patnagarh in Balangir district.

The short film, produced and directed by Bag, has been screened at the Indo Singapore International Film Festival (ISIFF), reports said.

Majhi, who hails from Melghara village under Thuamul Rampur block in Kalahandi district, shook the conscience of the nation after a video of him carrying his dead wife’s body on his shoulders went viral in August 2016. After allegedly being denied a hearse, he was reportedly forced to carry the body from the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bhawanipatna.

Following the incident, help and financial assistance poured in from various quarters to mitigate the plight of Dana Majhi.
