Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), July 27 - A case has been filed against an individual for allegedly threatening and verbally abusing Neeraj Singh, the District Supply Officer (DSO) of Saharanpur, over the phone. The police are currently searching for the suspect, as confirmed on Monday.
According to Chandrasen Saini, the officer in charge of the Sadar Bazaar police station, the incident occurred on the night of July 25 around 9:30 PM. Surendra Singhal reportedly called Singh's official number, expressing frustration that his son had not received the commission for ration distribution for the past eight months.
In response, Singh informed him that it was late and he was not in the office, suggesting that Singhal come in on Monday with the necessary documents to resolve the issue after checking the computer records. Singh claims that upon hearing this, the caller became irate and began to hurl insults and threats over the phone.
Singh stated that as a public servant, such disrespectful behavior has caused him mental distress. He categorized the incident as an attempt to obstruct government work. The DSO has provided the police with a pen drive containing the call recording, call details, and screenshots as evidence.
Chandrasen Saini mentioned that a case has been registered based on the complaint, and an investigation has commenced. He added that the inquiry is being conducted based on electronic evidence from the call and other relevant facts, with further legal actions to follow.
