On July 27, in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, numerous farmers and representatives from various agricultural organizations commenced a foot march towards Bhopal. This demonstration was driven by demands including the complete purchase of moong at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Carrying the national flag and chanting slogans like 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' and other anti-government phrases, the farmers, organized under the United Farmers Front, reached Budhni in Sehore district late Monday evening.
The farmers' key demands encompass the full procurement of moong, resolution of issues related to the e-token system, and timely availability of fertilizers at fair prices. The march began with a sit-in protest at Sethanighat in Narmadapuram, where the farmers also recited the Hanuman Chalisa. Following this, police attempted to obstruct their progress by setting up barriers at Bhopal Tirahe and other locations.
District Collector Samesh Mishra and Superintendent of Police Sai S Thota engaged in discussions with the farmers on National Highway 69, but their efforts were unsuccessful. As a result of this protest, several routes for travelers were altered, leading to some inconveniences for those on the road.
While the farmers marched on foot, they were accompanied by several tractors and trailers that provided water and food supplies for the participants.
