New Delhi: The clock for diplomacy between America and Iran is ticking fast. US President Donald Trump has clearly said that if talks with Iran fail again, the USA will return to the military option. he it "very strong military action" told.

‘Will not give much time’

In an interview given to Axios, Trump said that between America and Iran "very deep conversation" It is going on. But he also warned. He said, "If these talks are not successful, we will return to very strong military action." When asked about the deadline, Trump said, "Not much time. Either it will move quickly or not at all."

He told that he had stopped the American attacks last week only on the appeal of the mediator countries. He said, "Everyone who followed Iran’s affairs said – do not attack. So I stopped. Nothing was gained, nothing was lost." Trump also said that stopping the attacks was beneficial. Oil prices fell and the US stock market rose.

what is being discussed

At present the focus is on two issues – reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a new agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme. The conversation is not going straight. Iran and Oman are the main mediators. Qatar, Pakistan and Egypt are also involved in this. Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are overseeing the process.

This initiative comes after the US stopped air strikes against Iran for almost two weeks. Trump will also meet Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday. He said, "If I were not president, Iran would have nuclear weapons by now and Israel would be doomed."

Iran’s answer: We will decide ourselves

Iran retaliated just hours after Trump’s statement. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said that only Tehran will decide on war or peace. He said, "We have never and will never allow America to decide when there will be war. We will defend when our interests require it. When diplomacy will work, we will do diplomacy."

Baghai also termed as false those reports which said that Iran has demanded direct talks with America. "It is not in our DNA. The matter will happen only through middlemen."

Tension increased in the Gulf

Amidst diplomacy, attacks in the area also continue. Saudi Arabia said it shot down drones targeting petroleum targets in the Eastern Province and Riyadh. The blame is on Iran-backed militia. Yemen’s Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack on Yanbu port. Jordan shot down 2 drones.

In Iraq too, camps of Iranian Kurdish groups were targeted in drone attacks. Diplomacy and tension are going together. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether a deal can be made before Trump’s deadline or not.
